Hot Mix Asphalt
Hot mix asphalt has many names such as hot mix, asphalt concrete, asphalt or blacktop. It is a combination of stone, sand or gravel bound together by asphalt cement, a strong weather and chemical resistant binding material.
Crack Filling
Crack filling and crack sealing are used interchangeably but they have subtle differences. Crack filling is the injection of asphalt emulsion into cracks while crack sealing is a rubberized coating to prevent water intrusion.
Sealcoating
Sealcoating or pavement sealing is a protective coating for your asphalt that provides a protective barrier against water, oil, and UV exposures. Much like a car wax or polyurethane coating for exposed wood surfaces.
Chip Seal
Chip seal, sometimes called tar and chip, is a pavement surface treatment that combines one or more layers of asphalt with one or more layers of fine aggregate. In the United States this method is typically used on rural roads with lower traffic.
Road Base
Road base is used as the foundation of a road and in some areas where other pavement alternatives are cost prohibitive. Road base is usually made from crushed limestone and limestone dust which causes it to interlock and compact over time.
Dirt Work
Dirt work is the process of excavation, grading, and site preparation for any construction or paving project. The first steps of site preparation provides a solid base for any project and can prevent shifting ground and potential drainage issues.
